Subchapter 10.4 – Approach and Arrival

You continue descending. At FL 085, you report leaving that level (because ATC previously requested you report leaving FL 080, which is passed, so you report leaving 085 as you approach 080).

Approaching Flight Level 080

Munich Approach · OE-DMS

PILOT: OE-DMS, leaving flight level zero-eight-zero.
APPROACH: OE-DMS, roger. Reduce speed to one-four-zero knots, descend to three-thousand feet. Expect further descent to two-thousand feet, vectors for approach runway zero-eight right.
PILOT: Speed one-four-zero knots, descend to three-thousand feet, expect two-thousand feet for approach, OE-DMS.
Analysis: ATC issued speed control (reduce to 140 knots) and descent instructions. They also provided an expectation for a further descent. You read back the speed, the altitude, and the expectation (you do not need to read back "expect" items, but it is good practice to confirm understanding).
