Weather Avoidance Communication:
If you encounter weather that is deteriorating—rain, fog, cloud lowering toward your altitude, visibility reducing—you must communicate this to ATC and take action.
Do NOT attempt to climb above cloud hoping conditions improve. Do NOT descend below safe altitudes. Instead:
  1. Inform ATC of your current conditions: "Vienna Information, OE-LAB, two thousand feet, wind 220 at 15 knots, visibility four kilometers, rain. Unable to maintain current routing due to weather."

  2. Request a clearance to better conditions: "Request descent to one thousand five hundred feet and heading one-eight-zero to exit precipitation."

  3. Request a routing change if necessary: "Request clearance for right turn thirty degrees to avoid weather ahead."

ATC will prioritize your safety and work with you to route around weather or to a safe landing site.
