Subchapter 10.6 – Procedure Word Review and Summary

Heading and Turn Terminology Demonstrated

Turn instructions:
  • "After departure turn right heading zero-nine-zero" → you interpret as: "After I become airborne, fly heading 090 to the right"
  • "Turn left heading one-nine-zero" → "Alter your heading to 190 degrees, turning left"
  • "Turn right heading one-two-zero" → "Alter your heading to 120 degrees, turning right"
Readback of turn instructions:
  • You readback "Right heading zero-nine-zero" (not "turn right heading..."). The action is implicit.
Vectors vs. Headings:
  • Published routes: "Climb via SID" (you follow the published procedure; heading may vary)
