The Aero-Club Gotha e.V. is a non-profit flying club located at the historic Gotha-Ost airfield in Germany. It operates its own flight school focused on ultralight aircraft pilot training. Requirements include a minimum age of 16 years and a pilot medical fitness certificate (LAPL). The training curriculum covers theoretical subjects such as air law, navigation, meteorology, technology, radio communication, human performance, and pyrotechnics related to ultralight rescue systems. Practical training is conducted on three-axis ultralight aircraft and includes a minimum of 30 flight hours with solo and cross-country flights. Successful candidates earn the Sport Pilot Licence (SPL) for ultralight aircraft. The club maintains a fleet including models like Aeroprakt A-22LS, A-32, and previously Comco Ikarus C-42. It supports members with aircraft availability without requiring personal ownership. The home airport is EDEG Gotha. Additional services include trial flights, flight vouchers, and pilot experiences for a day. The club encourages aviation as a fascinating hobby with a traditional and supportive flying culture maintained by experienced volunteer instructors.
Contact is available via phone and email. The club is active in local events and provides downloadable membership application forms online.
