Subchapter 9.2 – IFR Distress and Urgency Communications

Structure of a PAN-PAN call:
Say PAN-PAN three times at the start (not MAYDAY, which would trigger full emergency response).
Address the appropriate ATC station.
State your callsign and aircraft type.
Explain the nature of the situation: "electrical system failure," "pressurization warning," "minor engine roughness, request descent," "medical situation on board, requesting diversion."
State your current intentions: "requesting descent to Flight Level 80 and vectors to nearest aerodrome," "continuing to destination but request priority handling."
Provide your position and current flight level.
