Part 6: Landing Clearance and Approach Management

Go-Around (Missed Approach)

If, during your final approach, you encounter an unsafe condition—debris on the runway, another aircraft not vacating, a sudden wind shear, or your approach is unstable—you have two options:

ATC initiates go-around: "F-ABCD, go around, aircraft on the runway."
Pilot initiates go-around: If you decide the approach is unsafe, push the throttle forward, pitch up, and climb. Immediately notify ATC: "F-ABCD, going around."

When you go around, you do not need clearance from ATC if you believe your safety is compromised. Your first duty is to fly the aircraft safely. You will inform ATC of your action, and they will re-sequence you.
