Initial Call at an AFIS Aerodrome

For a landing call, the format is the same. You identify the station, yourself, your position and altitude, and state your request. The key phrase at uncontrolled aerodromes is "request landing information" (not "request clearance").

Note: some frequencies are very busy. If the AFIS station is handling other traffic, they may say "stand by" before providing information. Wait patiently. Do not interrupt or repeat your call.
