Part 8: Special Situations

If, during your approach, you encounter a problem—hydraulic issue, engine roughness, uncertain fuel state—you should declare it to ATC:

"Borton Approach, F-ABCD, declaring minimum fuel" or "F-ABCD, declaring technical issue, engine losing power intermittently."

ATC will give you priority and expedite your arrival. You must give them the information early; do not wait until final approach. This is not a mayday (which is for life-threatening emergencies), but it alerts ATC that you need expedited service.
