Initial Contact on the New Frequency
- Station callsign /strong> – "Vienna Departure," "Linz Radar " etc.
- Your aircraft callsign
- Your position – or a brief report of your status as a departing aircraft
- Your altitude – current altitude or assigned altitude
- Your intention – implicitly understood as "climbing to assigned altitude" or a specific request
For a departing aircraft, the initial contact on Departure is typically:
"[Station], callsign , [position], [altitude], climbing [to assigned altitude]."
Or, simplified for clarity:
"[Station], callsign , departing [aerodrome name], [altitude]."
The word "departing" immediately tells the new controller that you have just left the departure aerodrome, you are climbing, and you are transitioning to their airspace.
