Subchapter 10.3 – En-Route Operations and Frequency Changes

PHASE 7: EN-ROUTE CLIMB

Timeline: T+0:08 (8 minutes after takeoff)
You are climbing through 4,500 feet. Salzburg Departure clears you to higher altitude.

Altitude Assignment During Climb

Salzburg Departure · OE-DMS

DEPARTURE: OE-DMS, climb flight level one-one-zero, report leaving flight level zero-nine-zero.
PILOT: Climb flight level one-one-zero, report leaving zero-nine-zero, OE-DMS.
Analysis: ATC assigned a new altitude (FL 110) higher than your initial clearance (FL 080). This is normal in IFR flight as ATC sequences traffic. You read back the new altitude and the reporting requirement.
