Scenario 2: Departure from an Unattended Field

You are at Feldkirchen, a small unattended aerodrome. There is a frequency listed (123.8 MHz) but no staffed ground station. You have completed your preflight and startup checks. Engine is running, flaps set, trim set, flight plan filed (if required).

You transmit on 123.8:

"Feldkirchen Traffic, D-EFGH, on the apron runway 09, ready to taxi, Feldkirchen."

No response is expected. You are simply announcing your presence.

You taxi to the holding point. Before entering the runway, you transmit again:

"Feldkirchen Traffic, D-EFGH, holding point runway 09, ready for departure, Feldkirchen."

You conduct a final look-out scan. You check the approach from both directions visually. You listen to the frequency to ensure no other aircraft is on approach. You hear nothing. The runway is clear. You transmit:

"Feldkirchen Traffic, D-EFGH, departing runway 09, Feldkirchen."

You align with the runway, advance the throttle, and take off.

Once airborne and at 500-800 feet, you transmit:

"Feldkirchen Traffic, D-EFGH, airborne, climbing to 2000 feet, leaving your frequency Feldkirchen."

You then change to your next frequency (e.g., a Flight Information Service frequency if you are in an FIS area) or navigate en route. You have successfully departed an uncontrolled field.
