The Aero-Club Gotha e.V. is a non-profit flying club based at the historic Gotha-Ost airfield in Germany. It operates its own flight school specializing in ultralight aircraft training for aspiring pilots. The club provides comprehensive theoretical instruction covering air law, navigation, meteorology, technology, radio communication, human performance, and pyrotechnics for UL rescue systems. Practical training includes at least 30 flight hours with a minimum of 5 solo hours, featuring instructor-supervised and solo cross-country flights. The training leads to the acquisition of a Sport Pilot Licence (SPL) for ultralight flying.
The club operates aircraft such as the Aeroprakt A-22LS and A-32, with a former fleet including Comco Ikarus C-42 models. Membership grants access to club aircraft for training and flying without the need for personal aircraft ownership. Training typically occurs on weekends with experienced volunteer instructors. Additional services offered include trial flights, flight vouchers, and "Pilot for a Day" experiences. Contact is available via email and phone for more information or summer visits.
