The Aero-Club Gotha e.V. is a non-profit flying club located at the historic Gotha-Ost airfield in Germany, offering ultralight aircraft training and flying opportunities. It operates its own flight school where aspiring pilots can learn to fly three-axis ultralight aircraft. Training includes theoretical instruction in air law, navigation, meteorology, technology, radio communication, human performance, and pyrotechnics for UL rescue systems, along with practical training requiring a minimum of 30 flight hours, including at least 5 solo hours. Key training milestones involve instructor-led and solo cross-country flights. The club provides aircraft for member use, eliminating the need for personal aircraft ownership. Training typically occurs on weekends with experienced volunteer instructors, with costs approximately between 3,000 and 4,000 Euros. Additional services include trial flights, flight vouchers, and "Pilot for a Day" experiences. The Aero-Club Gotha maintains a traditional and supportive flying culture and promotes aviation as a fascinating hobby.
The home airport for the club is EDEG (Gotha), and aircraft operated include Aeroprakt A-22LS, Aeroprakt A-32, and Comco Ikarus C-42 models. The training culminates in acquiring the Sport Pilot Licence (SPL). Contact is available via email and phone for more information or visits during summer months.
