The Aero-Club Odenwald, Michelstadt e.V. operates the Michelstadt airfield situated in the scenic Odenwald region, featuring a 604 x 15 meter asphalt runway equipped for night flights enabling year-round aviation activities. The airfield supports a diverse fleet including single-engine and multi-engine piston aircraft, ultralights, motor gliders, hang gliders, powered paragliders, and helicopters. It also occasionally supports model flying activities. A specialized maintenance workshop for American-certified aircraft is on site.
The club owns and manages its own flight school (ATO), offering pilot training for LAPL (A) and PPL (A) licenses permitting day and night VFR operations with piston-engine aircraft, with possibilities to extend training to multi-engine and turboprop aircraft. The training includes theoretical lessons, practical flight training, and radio communication certification in both German and English.
The club's fleet includes modern training aircraft like the Diamond DA-40 featuring a Garmin 1000 glass cockpit, the Cessna 172 Skyhawk used for basic and night flight training, and the Diamond DV 20 Katana ultralight trainer.
The facilities include a newly constructed spacious hangar and an inviting airfield restaurant with terrace and playground, serving as a social hub for aviation enthusiasts and visitors.
Membership includes access to a large community of about 100 active pilots in a volunteer-run, non-commercial club environment dedicated to the joy of flying and aviation education.
