Brief description Aero-Club Odenwald, Michelstadt E.v.

The Aero-Club Odenwald, Michelstadt e.V. operates the Michelstadt airfield located in the scenic Odenwald region, featuring a 604 x 15 meter asphalt runway with night flight lighting enabling year-round operations. It accommodates a variety of aircraft types such as single-engine and multi-engine piston planes, ultralights, motor gliders, hang gliders, powered paragliders, and helicopters. The club additionally supports model flying activities on certain days and maintains a specialized maintenance workshop for American-certified aircraft.

The Aero-Club owns and runs its own authorized flight school (ATO), offering pilot training for LAPL (A) and PPL (A) licenses, covering day and night VFR operations with options for extension to multi-engine and turboprop aircraft. Training includes theoretical instruction, practical flight hours, and radio communication certification available in both German and English.

The fleet includes modern training aircraft such as the Diamond DA-40 equipped with a Garmin 1000 glass cockpit, the Cessna 172 Skyhawk utilized for basic and night flight training, and the Diamond DV 20 Katana ultralight trainer. Facilities include a newly built spacious hangar for up to seven aircraft and a welcoming airfield restaurant with a terrace and children’s playground, fostering a community hub for aviation enthusiasts and visitors alike.

Membership comprises around 100 active pilots in a volunteer-run, non-commercial club environment focused on the enjoyment of flying and aviation education.
