Flugsportverein Cumulus Uelzen e.V. is an active aviation club based at Flugplatz Uelzen, located in Gerdau/Barnsen, Germany, between Hamburg and Hannover in the Lüneburger Heide region. The club operates a varied fleet including four motor aircraft such as the modern Aquila AT01 and Cessna 172, as well as multiple gliders like the DG 505 and ASK 13. The motor aircraft in the fleet comply with strict noise regulations and emphasize noise reduction.
The club offers comprehensive flight training programs according to EU regulations, including motor flight (PPL-A and LAPL-A) and sailplane pilot licenses (SPL + TMG, and optionally LAPL-S). Training includes theoretical instruction, practical flight training, radiotelephony license courses (BZF I and II), and ICAO language proficiency testing. The flight school is club-operated and requires membership for training and license renewals.
The association is member-driven with extensive volunteer engagement supporting operations, aircraft maintenance, and event organization. The club organizes numerous events and fosters a strong community spirit with family-friendly facilities.
