Flugring Austria Wiener Neustadt (FRA) is one of the largest aviation clubs in Austria, located at the military-civilian shared airfield Wiener Neustadt West (LOXN). It offers high-level gliding and powered flight activities with a modern fleet, including motorplanes, motor gliders, and sailplanes. The club benefits from excellent year-round flying conditions due to its location between the Alps and the Hungarian plain, featuring six runways, generous gliding start and landing areas, and two winch tracks.
FRA supports pilots with various training programs such as Light Aircraft Pilot License (LAPL), Private Pilot License (PPL), theoretical lessons, Night Visual Flight Rules (NVFR), glider towing authorization, and aerobatic training. It has over 160 members and 30 flight instructors, including national champions and world-class pilots.
The club operates a flight school for both motor and glider pilot licenses and emphasizes a community atmosphere with trial flights for newcomers. Its large hangar accommodates more than 30 private aircraft, making it one of the prominent choices for flight training and recreational flying in Austria.
