Luftsportverein Bad Hersfeld e.V., established in 1932, is an aviation club based at Flugplatz Langenberg near Hattenbach in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district, Germany. The club owns a scenic airfield centrally located in Germany and operates a fleet including the Tecnam P92 Echo ultralight and TL-3000 Sirius ultralight, which replaced the older Super Dimona motor glider.
The club offers ultralight flight training requiring a minimum of 30 flight hours with at least 5 solo hours and 60 hours of theory, typically completed in 1-2 years. Training includes fundamental flying skills, takeoffs, landings, boundary flight conditions, and navigation to distant airfields. Newcomers can enroll in a "Pilot for a Day" introductory course to get practical experience alongside instruction.
At weekends, the club engages in soaring and ultralight flying, scenic local and cross-country flights within Germany and neighboring countries, and organizes social events like barbecues and campfires to foster community spirit.
