Luftsportverein Bad Hersfeld e.V., founded in 1932, is an aviation club based at Flugplatz Langenberg near Hattenbach in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district of Germany. The club operates a fleet including the Tecnam P92 Echo and the recently added TL-3000 Sirius ultralight aircraft, which replaced their previous Super Dimona motor glider in 2024. The TL-3000 Sirius features a glass cockpit with analog backup instruments and is powered by a 100-PS Rotax engine, suitable for training, local sightseeing flights, and glider towing.
The club offers ultralight flight training requiring about 30 flight hours, including theory and solo flights, typically taking 1-2 years based on personal commitment and weather conditions. A "Pilot for a Day" introductory experience is available for aviation enthusiasts. The ultralight aircraft carries the special registration D-MHEF, representing the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district.
Members perform in-house maintenance, emphasizing community spirit, aviation education, and social activities with weekend flying for members and guests. This makes it an appealing choice for student pilots interested in ultralight flying.
