An ICAO code is a unique four-letter alphanumeric airport or location identifier assigned by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). These codes are used in flight planning, air traffic control, weather reporting, and international aviation operations. Unlike IATA codes (used for passengers and baggage), ICAO codes serve operational and regulatory purposes.
ICAO codes are regionally structured:

EDDF | Frankfurt/Main, Germany | E = Northern Europe, D = Germany, DF = Frankfurt |
LOWW | Vienna, Austria | L = Southern Europe, O = Austria, WW = Vienna |
KJFK | New York JFK, USA | K = USA, JFK = Identifier |
EGLL | London Heathrow, UK | E = Northern Europe, G = UK, LL = Heathrow |
OMDB | Dubai Intl, UAE | O = Middle East, M = UAE, DB = Dubai |
