Mayday

24 views·Sep 28, 2026

Mayday is the distress call for serious, imminent danger when you need help now. You learn how it differs from pan-pan, how the call is built, and what to do once it is out.

What you learn

  • Tell when a situation calls for Mayday, not pan-pan
  • Make the Mayday call in its standard order
  • Squawk 7700, unless ATC has already given you a code
  • Call again on 121.5 when nobody answers
