Mayday

The international radio distress call, spoken three times, “Mayday, Mayday, Mayday”, to declare a life-threatening emergency that needs immediate help. It gives you absolute priority over every other aircraft on the frequency.

After the call, pass your callsign, the nature of the emergency, your intentions, and your present position and altitude, e.g. “Mayday, Mayday, Mayday, Wien Information, D-EABC, engine failure, forced landing, 10 miles north of Krems, 2,500 feet”. Set squawk 7700 if you have not been given a code.
