Crossing controlled airspace

1 viewOct 1, 2026

Class C and D airspace needs a clearance, VFR or not. You learn how to ask for a crossing before the boundary, what remain outside means, why only the word cleared lets you in, and what to report when you leave.

What you learn

  • Request a crossing well before the boundary
  • Stay well clear of the zone when told to remain outside
  • Enter only once you hear cleared
  • Read back the route and altitude, then fly exactly that
  • Report where asked as you leave the zone
