Your first call: taxi

5 views·Oct 1, 2026

Your first call at a controlled aerodrome is usually the taxi call. You learn how to prepare it, what goes into it and in what order, what to read back, and why the holding point is as far as you may go.

What you learn

  • Prepare the ATIS letter, your position and your plan
  • Make the taxi call in the right order
  • Read back runway, QNH, squawk and route, callsign last
  • Stop at the holding point: it is your clearance limit
  • Stop and ask when you are unsure of your position
