When ATC cannot clear you any further yet, it holds you over a fix. You hear a published and a detailed holding clearance, the order of its elements, the speed limits, the time to expect and how you leave the hold.
What you learn
- List a hold in order: fix, level, inbound track, turns, time
- Read back a holding clearance, left turns included
- Request holding instructions when no hold is on your chart
- Give outbound times and top speeds either side of 14,000 ft
- Explain expect further clearance and expected approach time
