Taxi and Ground Operations at Uncontrolled Fields

Unlike controlled aerodromes, where you remain on ground control, at uncontrolled fields you often receive all information in one call and then move to the runway holding point without further contact until you are ready to depart. The station does not "clear" you to proceed to the holding point. You simply taxi. If you are uncertain, you can always ask. But the lack of ground control does not mean the lack of organization; it means less centralized organization and more personal responsibility.

Once you are at the holding point, you must conduct a final look-out scan. You must visually clear the approach in both directions. No controller has done this for you. You are the final barrier to collision. This is not a burden; it is your privilege and your duty as a pilot in command.
