AFIS Operations: The Middle Ground

If you are departing and you hear another aircraft on final, you must wait. Do not take off. The arriving traffic has priority. You might transmit: "Salzburg Radio, D-EHGH, holding point runway 16, will wait for landing traffic." The operator may confirm or may provide information about the landing aircraft. Either way, you have communicated your intention to wait and you have not created a hazard.
This kind of good judgment and clear communication is the backbone of safe operations at uncontrolled and AFIS aerodromes.
