Frequency Changes and Sector Transitions

When you are instructed to change frequency, acknowledge the instruction and read back the frequency:
"Contact Brno Radar one-two-zero decimal four-five-zero, OE-CMV."
Do not change frequency immediately. Instead, change frequency at an appropriate moment—typically when you have acknowledged the instruction and are ready to leave the current frequency. In practice, this is usually within a few seconds.
Once you have changed frequency, allow a moment for your radio to stabilize on the new frequency, then make an initial contact call on the new frequency. You have not yet established communication with the new facility, so use the standard initial call format:
"Brno Radar, OE-CMV, Cessna one-seven-two, forty miles south of Brno, flight level one-zero-five, transitioning from Vienna."
The new facility may come back with further information or instructions. If you do not receive a response after a reasonable interval (usually thirty seconds), repeat the call.
