A magnetic bearing FROM a VOR station. “Radial 090” is the line running due east from the beacon, so flying inbound on it you steer roughly 270°.

Radials are numbered 001 to 360 and define airways, holding patterns and positions such as “on the 090 radial, 20 miles” (with a DME giving the distance).
