Means “no”, “permission not granted” or “that is not correct”. On the radio you answer “negative” rather than “no”, which is easy to miss on a noisy frequency.
Controllers also use it to correct a wrong readback, e.g. “negative, climb flight level 80”.
Practise real radio calls, decode weather and fly ATC scenarios — with an instructor that talks back.
We provide the fastest and most efficient way to learn talking to air traffic control (ATC).
