Traffic circuit
ProceduresThe standard rectangular path flown around a runway to arrive, depart or practise landings. Its legs are:
- Upwind along the runway direction after takeoff
- Crosswind turning across the far end
- Downwind parallel to the runway, opposite the landing direction
- Base turning back towards the runway
- Final lined up with the runway to land
It is also called the pattern or the circuit.
