Pan-Pan

The international radio urgency call, spoken three times, “Pan-Pan, Pan-Pan, Pan-Pan”, for a serious situation that concerns the safety of the aircraft or someone on board but does not need immediate assistance. It ranks just below a Mayday distress call and still gives you priority over normal traffic. Use it for a problem you are actively managing, such as a rough-running engine or an unwell passenger, then pass your callsign, the nature of the problem, and your intentions.
